The Eighth Sunday of Easter

May 11, 2008

HERITAGE LUTHERAN CHURCH

308 Washington St

Valparaiso IN

 464-2810

Rev. Joe Ostafinski, Pastor

Welcome, Spirit-filled people of God!  On this day of Pentecost we hear the wonderful proclamation of Moses:  “I wish that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit on them!”  We again celebrate the presentation of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles of our Lord that first Pentecost after Jesus’ resurrection and ascension.  And, we are blessed today with the ongoing invitation of Jesus:  “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink.”  Proclamation. Presentation.  Invitation.  Let us praise God for His word and Spirit, and let us drink daily of the Spirit.  Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

In Our Prayers: Our mothers, Ken Unger, Flo Koenig, Ruth Dommer, Arthur Catton

The altar flowers are given today in thanksgiving for all mothers and in celebration of Ed, Vicki and Jody’s birthdays.  Ed & Vee Gutt

Teacher Appreciation Brunch is coming!  Mark your calendar, it will be Sunday, June 1, following our worship service.  Take this opportunity to join in thanking the many teachers of our children, youth, and adults at Heritage.  See the sign – up sheets on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall to record your attendance for brunch and to bring a brunch-type dish.  Any questions can be directed to Kari Carlson.

Are you going grocery shopping this week?  Are you in need of a hair cut?  See Bill Carlson in our Parish Hall after the service today to “purchase” SCRIP from Wiseway, Town & Country or Karen’s salon.  A percentage of your purchase comes back directly to Heritage.

We need your Help!  Heritage Outreach Committee is sponsoring a Block party July 12th.  We’re looking for many volunteers to be involved.  To find out how you can help come to an informational meeting after church May 18th or talk to Heidi Heuer.

Join the Heritage Trustee Team – Learn about our church building and be a member of the team that manages the maintenance of Heritage.  On the job training as you use YOUR talents and learn new skills.  Add your intellect and voice in project decisions.  PLEASE consider joining this team in managing God’s house.  Thank you, Ed, Doug, Larry, Jeff, Rick
